Guggul is an oleo-gum-resin, a secretion that is emitted from incisions in the bark of the Commiphora mukul tree
native to India. This small tree found throughout India has a variety of uses in traditional ayurvedic medicine.
Today, guggul extract is increasing being used to support cardiovascular health, particularly lipid and cholesterol metabolism. Guggulsterones may inhibit the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver and seem to have an antioxidant effect on lipids, according to some research. Guggul extract also serves as an antioxidant and may support normal vascular function. Guggulipid Extract is a concentrated source of guggulsterones Z and E, ketonic steroid compounds that are responsible for many of the health benefits associated with guggul extract. Guggulipid Extract contains many other active constituents, including resin, volatile oils, and gums.
